Corona Virus – The effects on Manufacturing

World Health Organisation (WHO) has called on industry and governments to increase the manufacturing of personal protective equipment (PPE) by 40% to meet rising global demand due to Covid-19. It has been said that manufacturing around the world could face months of disruption in the aftermath of the Coronavirus outbreak.

At Silver Fox, we manufacture our products in the UK and most standard orders are despatched the same day.

As part of our contingency strategy, we have increased our stock levels to ensure our customers will not suffer any delays during this period.

How can we contain it?

WHO Director General stated earlier this week: COVID-19 spreads less efficiently than flu, the transmission does not appear to be driven by people who aren’t sick, it causes more severe illness than flu and there are not yet any vaccines or therapeutics but it can be contained – which is why we must do everything we can to contain it. The symptoms of coronavirus are:

  • a cough
  • a high temperature
  • shortness of breath

But these symptoms do not necessarily mean you have the illness, the symptoms are like other illnesses that are much more common, such as cold and flu.

How coronavirus is spread

Because it’s a new illness, we do not know exactly how coronavirus spreads from person to person. Similar viruses are spread in cough droplets. It’s very unlikely it can be spread through things like packages or food.

How to avoid catching or spreading coronavirus

  • wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds
  • always wash your hands when you get home or into work
  • use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
  • cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
  • put used tissues in the bin straight away and wash your hands afterwards
  • try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell

  • do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean
