Find the right cable label for your application
Wrap-around self-laminating labels
Clear, self-laminating labels that wrap around the cable with a protective tail over the printed area.
Heat shrink markers
Printed markers that shrink tightly onto wires and cables for secure, long-lasting identification.
Non-shrink markers
Durable cable markers that grip without heat. Ideal where heat shrink is impractical after termination or on live projects.
Tie-on cable labels
Labels that attach with cable ties for larger cables, bundles and environments where adhesive is unsuitable.
Fibre optic flag labels
Flag-style labels designed for small-diameter fibre optic cables where standard labels are too bulky.
2-part slide-in markers
Marker cards that slide into a carrier profile on the cable, holding the printed identification securely in place.
Already have a cable schedule, port list or drawing? Upload it with your quote request and the team can recommend the right label type, quantity and route.
How do you want to get your cable labels?
Three ways to work with Silver Fox. Pick the route that fits your project, or ask for guidance if you are not sure.
I need labels printed for me
Tell us what you need to label, including cable type, diameter, quantity and any printed data. Silver Fox will recommend the right label and provide a quote.
I want to print labels myself
Want to print labels yourself? Silver Fox's Fox-in-a-Box® system lets teams print cable labels, wire markers and patch panel labels on site. Tell us your volume and label types and we will advise if a printer system makes sense.
I need help choosing
Not sure which label type or route is right? Share your project details and the team will advise on the best option for your application and volume.
The wrong label choice costs more than the label
Five common ways the wrong choice creates cost and risk on engineering projects.
01
Rework and delays
If the wrong label type is specified, installation teams waste time removing and replacing labels. On projects with tight commissioning deadlines, that rework directly impacts handover.
02
Readability after installation
Cables are pulled through containment, bundled, handled and re-dressed. If the label does not survive that process, maintenance teams lose the identification they depend on for fault-finding.
03
Terminology confusion
Cable labels, cable markers, cable tags, cable idents, wire labels, cable sleeves. Different terms for overlapping products. Specifying the wrong type because of unclear terminology creates procurement headaches and project risk.
04
Environment mismatch
Indoor panels, outdoor cable trays, demanding industrial sites, high-temperature environments. The label material must match the environment. A label that works in a comms room may not survive on a cable tray exposed to UV or chemicals.
05
Scale uncertainty
Some projects need 50 labels. Others need 5,000 per month across multiple sites. The solution needs to flex between a one-off supply and a repeatable in-house printing system.

Used on engineering projects across the UK
Silver Fox cable labels run through projects in data centres, oil and gas, panel building, rail and across UK industry. Below: where they are most often specified, and what engineers say.
Where Silver Fox labels are used
Data centres
Thousands of fibre and copper IDs across patch panels, structured cabling and DC infrastructure.
Oil, gas and process
Cable identification that survives hydrocarbons, UV and demanding environments, with LSZH compliance.
Panel building and OEM
Repeatable in-house printing for high-volume control panels with workflow integration.
Rail and transit
Durable cable ID for vibration, weather and BS EN 45545 fire-safety standards.
What engineers say
We have been using our Silver Fox label printer for a number of years. The product is fantastic, extremely easy to use and prints perfect idents every time.
Great printer, does everything we need. Tech support was brilliant and talked us through easy to understand instructions. The software is simple to use also. Would definitely recommend.
From my first call as an enquiry, through sales, to unpacking and printing off my first labels I had total support from every phone call and interaction.
Common questions from engineers
Frequently asked questions from buyers, specifiers and engineers researching cable labelling.
What is the difference between cable labels and cable markers?
The terms overlap and are often used interchangeably. In practice, cable labels usually refer to wrap-around self-laminating labels or tie-on labels on larger cables. Cable markers usually refer to smaller heat shrink or non-shrink markers fitted onto individual wires before termination. Silver Fox supplies both. Section 5 of this page lets you describe your application and the team will recommend the right type.
Will Silver Fox labels survive in my environment?
Silver Fox has supplied cable identification for industrial environments since 1979, including oil and gas, rail, defence, panel building and data centres. The right answer depends on substrate, environment and project life. Tell the team about your application using the form and we will recommend the right material and provide supporting test data where available.
How quickly can you turn around a quote?
We aim to respond within one working day. For urgent timing, call the sales team directly on +44 (0) 1707 37 37 27 and a specifier will pick up.
Can I print labels myself, or do you supply them printed?
Both. Silver Fox supplies labels printed to your specification on a per-project basis, and Silver Fox also supplies in-house printing systems (Fox-in-a-Box®) for repeatable high-volume work. Which route makes sense depends on your volume, label types and how often you re-order. The team will help you decide.
Do you offer LSZH options?
Yes. Silver Fox offers LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) materials across both heat shrink markers (Legend™ LSZH) and tie-on cable labels (Fox-Flo® LSZH). LSZH is specified across rail, mass transit and confined-space applications where fire-safety compliance matters.
What if I am not sure which product I need?
Choose "I need help choosing" in the quote form, describe your application briefly and upload a photo or schedule if you have one. The Silver Fox technical team will review and recommend. Alternatively call +44 (0) 1707 37 37 27 and a specifier will work through it with you on the phone.
