Multicomp Pro® Cable Labels and Software

Professional cable identification from any office laser printer. Multicomp Pro® labelling software and laser label sheets are developed by Silver Fox® and available through Farnell, CPC, Newark, and element14.

Overview

Professional labelling without dedicated hardware

Not every team needs a dedicated thermal transfer printing system. Some engineers label intermittently, others work on projects where a full printer setup is difficult to justify. Multicomp Pro® is built for exactly this scenario: professional cable labels and wire markers printed on a standard office laser printer, using pre-formatted A4 label sheets and purpose-built design software.

Silver Fox® developed the Multicomp Pro® software and label range specifically for engineers purchasing through distribution. It is not a repackaged third-party tool. Silver Fox® wrote it, continues to update it, and provides the same frontline technical support to Multicomp Pro® customers as it does to those buying direct.

This article covers what the software does, the label types available, the three software tiers, and where to buy.

1. The labels

What engineers can print with Multicomp Pro®

The Multicomp Pro® label range covers the core identification requirements engineers encounter on most installation, maintenance, and commissioning projects. All labels are laser printable on any standard office laser printer using A4 label sheets, with no dedicated hardware needed.

Label types in the Multicomp Pro® range

  • Wrap-around cable labels for round cables and conductors
  • Tie-on markers for cable bundles and tagged wiring
  • Equipment and asset labels for panels, enclosures, and instruments
  • Fibre flag cable labels
  • Larger equipment labels for switchgear and distribution boards

The software includes pre-set templates matched to the specific dimensions and tolerances of each label type. Engineers select a label, enter their text or import a cable schedule, and print. Sequential numbering, prefixes, suffixes, and free-text fields are all handled within the software, removing the need to manually re-key identifiers across large cable schedules.

2. The software

Three tiers, from free to full-featured

Multicomp Pro® software is available at three capability levels. All tiers include free training, support, and lifetime feature updates from Silver Fox®.

Basic - Free

Pre-built templates for the full label range, copy and paste from Microsoft Windows® applications, sequential numbering, and auto-update. Print 60 tie-on labels in under a minute. Free with a lifetime licence: no trial period, no expiry.

Advanced - Paid

All Basic features, plus CSV import for large cable schedules, multiple line labels, custom fonts, prefixes and suffixes, and symbols. Includes integration with Fluke Networks® LinkWare™ Live and AEM Test Pros for structured cabling test workflows.

Professional - Paid

All Advanced features, plus full spreadsheet import, variable quantity duplication, barcodes and QR codes, GS1® Data Matrix, imported graphics, and locked job export. The complete tier for data centre and enterprise cabling projects.

Multicomp Pro® Professional tier: QR codes, barcodes, GS1® Data Matrix, and imported graphics alongside the full label range.

Test system integration: Fluke Networks® and AEM Test Pros

For structured cabling engineers, the most significant capability in the Advanced and Professional tiers is the integration with Fluke Networks® LinkWare™ Live and AEM Test Pros. Both are widely used cable test management platforms. The integration means test results and cable IDs can flow directly into the label printing workflow, eliminating manual re-keying between the tester and the label printer and reducing the risk of transcription errors on large installations.

Multicomp Pro® Advanced and Professional tiers integrate with Fluke Networks® LinkWare™ Live and AEM Test Pros, connecting cable test results directly to the label printing workflow.

3. Where to buy

Available through Farnell, CPC, Newark, and element14

Multicomp Pro® labels and software are available through four distributors, each serving a different region. Engineers can order through whichever brand they already hold an account with, adding labels and software to an existing purchase order alongside other electrical supplies.

Farnell

UK and European market. Silver Fox®'s longest-standing distribution partner. Stocks Multicomp Pro® laser labels and software for engineers ordering within the UK and across Europe.

CPC

UK-focused distributor. A practical route for UK engineers who already use CPC for components and consumables, allowing Multicomp Pro® labels to be ordered alongside the rest of a project's electrical supplies through a single account.

Newark

North American market. US and Canadian engineers can access the same Multicomp Pro® labelling range and software through Newark.

element14

Asia-Pacific market. Operations span Australia, New Zealand, China, India, Thailand, and more, with further coverage from Singapore into Indonesia, Vietnam, and Brunei.

For engineers working across multiple regions or on international projects, this is practical: the same labelling products and software are available through consistent channels regardless of location. A specification written around the Multicomp Pro® range can be fulfilled locally in each geography without introducing alternative products.

Support does not change by channel

Customers who purchase through Farnell, CPC, Newark, or element14 receive the same frontline technical support as those who buy through silverfox.co.uk directly. That includes software support, training, and application guidance. Silver Fox® has operated this way since the partnership began: the distributor handles the transaction; Silver Fox® backs the product and the customer relationship.

Questions answered

Frequently asked questions

Can I buy Multicomp Pro® labels without the software?

Yes. Labels are available separately through Farnell, CPC, Newark, and element14. However, using them with the Multicomp Pro® software ensures correct label formatting, accurate sizing, and the ability to automate numbering and text sequences. The Basic software tier is free, so there is no reason not to use it alongside any label order.

Is element14 the only way to buy Multicomp Pro® in Asia-Pacific?

element14 is Silver Fox®'s primary distribution partner in the Asia-Pacific region, covering ten countries directly with additional service from Singapore. For projects in specific markets, further regional stockists may be available. Contact sales@silverfox.co.uk to confirm availability in a specific country.

Does Multicomp Pro® software work with labels from other suppliers?

Multicomp Pro® software is designed and optimised for the Multicomp Pro® label range. It contains pre-set templates matched to the specific dimensions and tolerances of those labels. Using it with labels from other sources is not recommended and may produce misaligned or unusable output.

Can I buy Silver Fox® direct products through Farnell, CPC, Newark, or element14?

No. These distributors stock the Multicomp Pro® label and software range only. Silver Fox® direct products are available exclusively through silverfox.co.uk or via the Silver Fox® sales team. If you are unsure which route suits your requirements, contact sales@silverfox.co.uk and the team can advise.

What support is included with Multicomp Pro® software?

All tiers include free training and support backed by Silver Fox®, plus lifetime feature updates. This covers help with the Fluke Networks® LinkWare™ Live and AEM Test Pros integrations available in the Advanced and Professional tiers. Whether you need help setting up your first label template, configuring a test system integration, or troubleshooting a print alignment issue, the same team is available regardless of where the software was purchased.
