Silver Fox® Achieves JOSCAR Registration to Strengthen UK Defence Supply Chain Credentials
British cable label manufacturer joins the UK defence and aerospace supply chain accreditation register operated by Hellios.
Silver Fox® has been added to the JOSCAR register, the UK's recognised supply chain accreditation register for the defence, security and aerospace sectors. The registration reinforces Silver Fox's position as a trusted British supplier of cable and equipment labelling solutions to the UK defence supply chain, and adds to a growing set of credentials supporting the company's work with defence primes, Tier suppliers, and MoD-facing manufacturers.
1. The accreditation
What JOSCAR is
JOSCAR (the Joint Supply Chain Accreditation Register) is the UK's recognised supply chain accreditation register for the defence, security and aerospace sectors, operated by Hellios. It is used by major buyers including UK defence primes to identify and verify pre-qualified suppliers across categories spanning manufacturing, services, materials and components.
Registration on JOSCAR provides:
- A standardised, independently assessed view of supply chain capability.
- Verified quality, financial, and compliance information for buyer review.
- Visibility to defence primes and Tier suppliers searching the register for qualified UK suppliers.
- A reduced administrative burden on procurement teams, who can rely on JOSCAR data rather than running parallel supplier vetting processes.
For UK defence buyers, JOSCAR is an established checkpoint in supplier selection. A supplier on the register has already been through a recognised accreditation process, giving procurement teams confidence in capability and compliance before commercial engagement begins.
2. The sovereign supply context
Why this matters
Defence procurement has shifted decisively toward sovereign supply. The UK government has committed to raising defence spending to 2.5% of GDP by 2027 (2.6% including security and intelligence), and to 3.5% by 2035 under the latest NATO target (House of Commons Library, 2026), with a clear preference for British manufacturers in the supply chain. Strengthening domestic resilience is now a stated strategic priority, reflected in the Defence Industrial Strategy and reinforced at events such as DPRTE 2026, where Silver Fox® exhibited on the Make UK Defence Pavilion earlier this year.
For Silver Fox®, JOSCAR registration is the latest step in a deliberate strengthening of our defence credentials. As the only fully British-owned and fully British-manufactured industrial labelling company, we offer what defence buyers increasingly look for: assured continuity of supply, complete in-house manufacturing control, and a domestic supply chain free of overseas parent company dependencies.
The combination of British provenance and JOSCAR-verified supply chain credentials provides defence procurement teams with the documentation and confidence they need to specify Silver Fox® labelling solutions across cable identification, equipment labels, asset tracking, and engraved nameplate applications.
3. The full credential set
The wider credential set
JOSCAR registration sits alongside a credential set that has been built up over more than four decades of supplying defence projects worldwide.
| Credential | What it confirms |
|---|---|
| ISO 9001:2015 | Quality management system certified by NQA under UKAS accreditation. |
| Make UK Defence member | Active member of the representative body for UK defence manufacturers. |
| DPRTE 2026 exhibitor | Exhibited on the Make UK Defence Pavilion at the UK's leading defence procurement event. |
| MIL-STD-202 Method 215 | Silver Fox® cable and equipment labels independently tested for resistance to solvents, confirming markings remain legible and undiscoloured. |
| JOSCAR-registered via Hellios | Verified on the UK defence and aerospace supply chain accreditation register. |
Combined, these credentials provide procurement teams with documented assurance across quality, sector membership, independent product testing, and supply chain accreditation.
Make UK Defence Member
Silver Fox® is a member of Make UK Defence, the representative body for the UK defence manufacturing sector. This membership reflects Silver Fox®'s commitment to supporting UK sovereign manufacturing capability and the defence supply chain.
4. Practical implications
What this means for defence customers
For defence primes, Tier suppliers and MoD-facing manufacturers seeking labelling solutions for cable identification, equipment tagging, asset tracking and engraved nameplates, the practical implications are straightforward.
Pre-qualified supplier status
Procurement teams can search JOSCAR and verify Silver Fox® details directly, reducing the administrative effort required for supplier on-boarding.
Documented quality and compliance
ISO 9001:2015 certification, MIL-STD-202 Method 215 test reports, and JOSCAR data are available to support specification documentation and audit requirements.
Sovereign supply chain
Every Silver Fox® product is designed, manufactured and dispatched in-house from our British factory, with complete supply chain traceability and no overseas parent company dependencies.
Confidentiality respected
Silver Fox® does not disclose contractor, OEM, or government end-user details. Discretion is central to how we work with defence customers.
5. A view from R&D
Engineering rigour from development to supply chain
"JOSCAR registration confirms at supply-chain level the rigour we build into our products from the development stage. Our cable and equipment labels are engineered and independently tested to stay legible and intact in the conditions defence applications demand, and adding JOSCAR to our credential set gives defence engineers and procurement teams extra confidence in both the products and the supplier behind them."
