FAQs

What are the technical specifications of Fox‑in‑a‑Box?

Fox‑in‑a‑Box is fitted with a DTP‑1 thermal printer that utilises thermal transfer technology to deliver a high‑quality 300 dpi output. It features 8 MB of RAM, weighs 4.5 kg, and measures 231 mm (W) x 289 mm (L) x 270 mm (H). The printer connects via USB and is standard on 230v (with a 120v version available for North American customers). Its Harmonised System (HS) Code is 84433210.

What software is available to operate Fox‑in‑a‑Box?

Fox‑in‑a‑Box runs on the in‑house developed Labacus Innovator® software, available in Basic, Advanced, and Professional versions. The software is downloadable from the web, runs on Windows (Windows 7 64‑bit and later), and is optimised for 4K displays, ensuring a crisp and user‑friendly interface.

What thermal ribbon options are provided?

All Fox‑in‑a‑Box units are supplied with a 300 m thermal transfer ribbon. You can select from ribbons of different widths—110 mm, 60 mm, or 25 mm (model variants TSR3/300/110, TSR/300/60, TSR/300/25, respectively). The chosen ribbon width directly determines the maximum label width available for printing. For detailed guidance, please refer to the Fox‑in‑a‑Box Thermal Transfer Ribbon page.

Do I need an additional label guidance system?

Yes. Depending on the type of thermal labels you intend to print, an additional label guidance system is required. For printing Fox® or Fox‑Flo® labels, an LGS4 system is necessary, while Legend™ Non‑Shrink and Legend™ Heatshrink (continuous roll) labels require an LGS3 system. These systems ensure accurate label registration and consistent print quality.

What accessories are included with Fox‑in‑a‑Box?

Your Fox‑in‑a‑Box package includes essential accessories such as a USB printer cable for PC connectivity and a kettle lead for power. In addition, a quick start manual is provided, detailing recommended printer settings for over 160 label types to facilitate a smooth and efficient setup.

How is Fox‑in‑a‑Box maintained and what consumables are needed?

Fox‑in‑a‑Box is engineered for low‑maintenance operation in demanding industrial environments. Consumables like thermal transfer ribbons are easy to replace. The included manual outlines optimal printer settings and maintenance tips, ensuring your system remains reliable and cost‑effective over its long operational life.

What support and warranty do I receive with Fox‑in‑a‑Box?

Silver Fox offers comprehensive, free‑of‑charge technical support for Fox‑in‑a‑Box. Support is available via TeamViewer, Microsoft Teams, telephone (+44 (0) 1707 37 37 27), email (support@silverfox.co.uk), and WhatsApp for Business. Additionally, the product comes with free lifetime software updates and a competitive warranty, securing your investment for the long term.

How does Fox‑in‑a‑Box integrate with external systems such as Fluke Linkware Live?

Fox‑in‑a‑Box is designed for seamless integration with your existing digital ecosystem. In addition to its USB connectivity, it offers direct integration with platforms like Fluke Linkware Live. This enables real‑time data transfer and automated label generation from your labelling or ERP systems—minimising manual input, reducing errors, and enhancing overall operational efficiency.

Can Fox‑in‑a‑Box be used internationally?

Yes, Fox‑in‑a‑Box is suitable for international use. The standard configuration is available in 230v, with a 120v version offered for North America. This flexibility ensures that the system complies with different regional power standards and can be seamlessly implemented in diverse industrial settings.
